What's at the top of my list?

The housing crisis that is plaguing our community, the west coast, and the entire country is at the top of my list of issues to tackle in Congress.

In a report I released earlier this year, I identified how we got to where we are—through the racist and discriminatory housing policies that have marginalized vulnerable communities—and where we need to go next to reverse the damage with investment, commitment, and justice.

I've been working diligently with my friends in the Congressional Progressive Caucus to bring some of these policies to life in Congress, including my good friend Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib. In fact, she will be joining me today to discuss the topic of housing justice and hear from Portlanders.

And next week back in Washington, Congresswoman Tlaib and I will be partnering with other progressive champions, Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Pramila Jayapal to introduce a suite of legislation to address every aspect of America's housing crisis.

We can't be in this fight alone. It's going to take energy and engagement to make change. We are ready to tackle this issue head on, and we won't stop until housing is guaranteed as a human right.

More soon,

Earl
