We're the ones fighting for democracy

The last 48 hours have been surreal.

The tape of Trump's call with Georgia election officials is so jarring and illustrates the importance of this past election and all of the hard work by people around the country to elect Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats in the House.

And while it may be special election day in Georgia tomorrow, the 2022 election has already started in Washington, D.C. Kevin McCarthy kicked it off yesterday with a blatant, hyper-partisan, and misleading campaign speech when he should have been graciously introducing Nancy Pelosi as the newly elected Speaker of the House.

With over 100 members of the House and Senate actively seeking to undermine democracy, there is no doubt in my mind that the GOP would have stolen the presidency if Democrats had not kept the House.

It's hard to tell if these people are true believers in Trump or craven political opportunists hungry for power. Either way, their failure to stand up for our democracy is despicable and our Democratic House majority is the only thing stopping them.

This drama that is playing out is something that we all must focus on, no matter where we live. Standing up against lies, bigotry, and election fraud is everybody's business.

Because make no mistake: If Trump and the Republicans do not get the initial results they want in the Senate election in Georgia tomorrow, their campaign of misinformation, lying, and trying to steal elections will continue.

The stakes are clear and we need to be tireless in protecting the democratic process.

Can you contribute $20.21 now to help us in this fight?

Courage,

Earl
