Today, we celebrate. Tomorrow, the work begins.

All across America, people are awakening to the realization that the transition is in fact taking place, that Joe Biden is going to be our president, and that we will finally be turning a page on this sad chapter of American history.

There was a terrible price paid to get us to this moment, but we prevailed. We are here and we are celebrating.

It doesn't change the stark reality that we face, but we do so with hope, a sense of accomplishment, and a new political alignment that will help us heal and make progress.

Before today's inauguration begins, I want to say a huge thank you to all who helped make this possible.
